Nashville Predators GM David Poile talked to The Tennessean John Glennon about the team’s off season plans. Poile says the team may have trouble resigning RFAs Greg Zanon, Joel Ward and Vern Fiddler and UFA Steve Sullivan. Ward had a decent first full season in the NHL, with 17 goals and 18 assists, and this column notes that he’s looking to triple his $500,000 salary.

From the outside looking in, it would seem that the Preds could use some more scoring up front. Any thoughts on the team’s off season direction?

The Phoenix Coyotes re-signed left wing Petr Prucha to a two-year contract. What happened to this guy? Since finding the back of the net 30 times as a rookie in 2005-06, his scoring touch has just about vanished. Good luck to the Coyotes revitalizing Prucha’s career. He did have 10 points in 19 games after the Coyotes acquired him via trade this past season. Will be interesting to see the terms of the deal, once released.

Was backing out of the driveway on the way to see a movie when I heard the Keith Tkachuk re-signing was announced. It’s a one-year, $2.15 million deal for the St. Louis Blues.

STLtoday columnist Jeff Gordon talked to Blues GM Larry Pleau this afternoon, and Pleau says the team is interested in adding a puck-moving defenseman and a backup goalie. Gordon lays out some possible moves the Blues could make, whether by trades or through minor league depth.

Just a few notes from today’s headlines:
