The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Empty Netters blog looks at teams that UFA goaltender Martin Biron could help. The writer finds it curious that Biron has attracted such little interest so far. He feels the Thrashers, Kings, Coyotes and Lighting would be the best fits.

What do you think? Why haven’t teams gone after Biron?

Ths Columbus dispatch’s Tom Reed says the Columbus Blue Jackets may be in the market for an offensive-minded defenseman. However, there are no easy solutions, he writes. The UFA market isn’t the answer, as the team likely would go the trade route. Reed notes that the Toronto Maple Leafs have nine NHL-level defensemen and the San Jose Sharks need help up front plus some salary cap relief. He says the Sharks may have been one of the teams Columbus talked with about a trade before the recent NHL draft.
