Marian Gaborik signed a five-year, $37.5 million deal with the New York Rangers today, leaving behind the Minnesota Wild.

I’m surprised, believing all the hype that Gaborik was destined for Vancouver. My guess would be that with the Sedin twins re-signing with the Canucks and the Rangers failing to land Ottawa’s Dany Heatley, this was the ideal fit. I hope that Gaborik’s groin holds out. Sounds like a joke, but the dude has missed a lot of games since the lockout. When he plays, he’s fantastic. Rangers fans should be excited.
